In Loving Memory of Pat (Hunsaker) Herold Pat (Hunsaker)Herold, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, originally from Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her departure, caused by the rare disease Amyloidosis, has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends that can never be filled. The family is hosting a Memorial Mass at 1:30 p.m. on February 23, 2024, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the columbarium. Pat was the epitome of selflessness, always putting the needs and happiness of others before her own. Whether it was caring for her aging parents until their last breath, being a devoted wife of 51 years to her husband Dave, or nurturing her children Josh, Jamin, and Kaleigh. Pat's life was defined by her unwavering commitment to those she loved including her children’s spouses and partners, and a multitude of grandchildren who were the apple of her eye. She was not only a pillar of strength within her family but also a beloved friend, a devoted daughter, and a cherished sister to two brothers and one sister. A beacon of joy and positivity, Pat had a remarkable gift for brightening up anyone's day. Her infectious smile and compassionate spirit made her a friend to all who crossed her path. Whether it was through her roles as a soccer mom, volunteering at school, or simply baking cookies to share with friends, Pat's acts of kindness knew no bounds. Pat's generosity extended beyond her immediate family, reaching out to embrace her nine grandchildren and one soon-to-be great-grandchild with boundless love and affection. She took immense joy in seeing the smiles on their faces, finding happiness in their happiness. But perhaps Pat's most enduring legacy lies in her ability to make everyone feel cared for and valued. She had a unique talent for creating warmth and laughter wherever she went, ensuring that no one ever felt alone or neglected. Her home was always open to friends and family, where she would graciously entertain and nourish both body and soul. Even in her final moments, Pat's thoughts were of others. She fought bravely, clinging to the hope of one more opportunity to be with her loved ones. Though that moment never came, she found peace in the loving embrace of her husband, Dave, as she peacefully slipped away. As we mourn the loss of Pat, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the profound impact she had on those around her. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched with her love, kindness, and unwavering generosity. Rest in peace, dear Pat, knowing that you are deeply loved and will be forever cherished in our hearts. May you find eternal comfort in the arms of our Heavenly Father, who welcomed you home with open arms.In lieu of flowers, Pat has requested donations to the Amyloidosis Foundation, amyloidosis.org/

Pat was a treasured friend! Her openness, compassion, kindness, and caring for all living beings were an inspiration. She reached out to support those she didn't know as well as supported and cared deeply for those who were dear to her. She saw differences as gifts to be nurtured and treasured. I am thankful for her presence in my life over many years and across many geographical miles. Rest in peace, my friend.
