Larry Reid Helms

Mr. Larry Reid Helms, age 82, husband of the late Sara Helms, of Fort Mill, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home.Larry enjoyed tubing at Yogi Bear Campground, woodwork, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, daily luncheons, shagging, sneaking candy to his great grandchildren, and praising Jesus.The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at The Lords Armory Church. The celebration of life will follow at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The burial will be in the Mount Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Matthews, NC at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2024.Born in Matthews, NC, Larry was a son of the late David Helms and Lois Stillwell Helms. He worked in construction and was a handyman. Larry was a member of the Lord’s Armory Church in Fort Mill.Larry is survived by his children, Sharon Goomis ( Jerry Goomis ), Lauren Grennan ( James Grennan); ten grandchildren, Roseanne Ramirez ( Alex Ramirez), Christopher Goomis, Jerri Goomis, James Grennan , Linda Kott (Brandon Kott), John Grennan (Shelby Grennan), Hannah Grennan, Sara Grennan, Sylvia Hauxwell (Ian Hauxwell), Stella Knight (Skylar Knight); and 19 great-grandchildren.
